Andrew is the third generation of his family in the automotive repair business. His grandfather Ralph, was forced to leave the family farm in 1923 to work at his uncle's new Ford dealership in Omaha, Nebraska. In the 1950's, he opened his own garage and Hudson dealership in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Later on in his career he owned several service stations and garages in the Denver, Colorado area.
Andrew's father Gene, worked for his father at his various ventures as a mechanic during his youth. He went on to become an instructor at an ACDelco Training Center. Later on in his career, he developed training programs for General Motors. If you have seen a training video from ACDelco or General Motors from the mid-1980s to late 1990s, you have probably seen his hands on the screen. Through him I learned what his father taught him and what he had learned about auto repair through his own trial and error.
Andrew started his aftermarket adventure in Detroit working at several repair shops and dealerships. The majority of his career was spent at import vehicle repair shops that were run by German immigrants who took Andrew under their wings and taught him how to be a "thinking craftsman" when it comes to repairing cars.
Andrew is an active member of the SCCA and is involved with motorsports at several levels including as a driver and corner worker.
BRAKE & FRONT END dates back to 1931 and this is the 873rd issue. It is steeped in a tradition of excellence and delivering to the reader the best undercar information. It is a tradition that the staff am committed to uphold.
