Jim Merle has been with Babcox Media since 1993 and currently serves as group publisher of Brake & Front End, ImportCar, Underhood Service, Shop Owner and Servicio Automotriz. Jim currently serves on the AutoCare Association’s Marketing Committee and the Strategy Track Committee for the Automotive Communication Council. Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a major in Marketing/Advertising from the University of Akron.

Andrew Markel


Andrew Markel is the editor for Brake & Front End and has been on the staff at Babcox Media for 16 years. He is a former technician, service writer and service manager with experience at independent shops and dealerships. Andrew is also an ASE certified automotive technician. Andrew has spoken at industry events such as the SAE Brake Colloquium and FMSI Annual Conference. He has also been quoted in publications like Smart Money and Crain’s Business. He is active in motorsports and owns several vintage vehicles.

Jon was previously the senior graphic designer at Vespoint Publishing Company in Barberton, Ohio, publisher of The Barberton Herald weekly newspaper. Jon has a bachelor of science in Electronic Media Production from Kent State University, and an associate of applied science in Interactive Media from Stark State College of Technology.
